Makapu’u Point Lighthouse Trail Hike

Makapu’u Point Lighthouse Trail Hike & Halona Blowhole

Duration: 4 hours

Embark on a scenic Hawaii adventure to the iconic Makapu’u Point Lighthouse on Oahu’s windward coast. This Hawaii trail offers breathtaking views of offshore islets, the deep blue sea, and the historic red-roofed lighthouse, built in 1909. Learn about the historic Hawaii lighthouse and its powerful “hyper-radiant” lens. On a clear day, you may even see the islands of Moloka‘i and Lana‘i. Keep an eye out for migrating humpback whales (November- May) and seabirds like the ‘iwa and tropicbird. Binoculars are recommended to enhance whale sightings, with interpretive signs and viewing scopes along the trail.

During this Hawaii tour, we’ll also stop at the Halona Blowhole, one of Hawaii’s most popular natural wonders. Witness water spout up to 20 feet when conditions are right. Both the blowhole and Makapu’u offer incredible vantage points for spotting humpback whales in winter.

Restrictions: Not recommended for pregnant women. Participants must be physically fit.
